Super-Calligraphic

Inspired by Cy Twombly’s abstract works, Quincampoix and C F McEwan present a contemporary printed collection for Autumn Winter 16.

Fashion designer Jennifer Rodríguez-Selden from Quincampoix and textile designer Clare McEwan from C F McEwan, studied together at Central Saint Martins in 1999. With a shared love of colour and experimental drawing, they collaborated on an exclusive print project, based on Cy Twombly’s expressive paintings.

Rodríguez-Selden and McEwan studied and absorbed Twombly’s palette and gestural paint marks, to transform a body of their Twombly-inspired paintings into prints for fashion. These use digital photography to combine the handwriting of both designers into each of the edited prints.

Womenswear label Quincampoix presents a forward-looking collection that combines luxury materials of silk, wool and leather, and incorporates painterly silk prints in female garments. The label defines itself by highly skilled pattern cutting and attention to detail.

Textile brand C F McEwan offers a limited edition range of scarf designs in printed silk crepe and cashmere. Each scarf is decorated with expressive and vibrant texture, demonstrating the control and artistry with colour, trademark of all the C F McEwan designs.
